This is one of those times where the geeky/nerdy bit of me can be of use to the church: I’ve recently created a group on Facebook for our church. It’s going well so far although all we’ve done is put up some information on upcoming events. After reading this though I think what I should have done is created a Facebook page rather than a group so now I need to migrate from one to the other! Incidently, I read some great tips on using a church Facebook presence on churchmarketingsucks.com. Hope to be making use of some of those ideas in the coming weeks 🙂

all of these churches out there are false doctrine but one, If you study your bible in romans 9;13 and ephesians 5;25 it tells you that GOD does not love everybody. and GOD creates evil, job 42;11, amos3;6, Isaiah45;7. dont believe a preacher just because he told you so, he is a man and makes mistakes to, study the customs and manners of ISRAEL,do research.
Hi Ray, Sorry I’ve taken so long to reply to you, life doesn’t always follow our plans but God’s ways are always better! You’ve chosen an odd post to air your views on this but nevertheless I’d like to clear up any misunderstanding their might be on your points. I’m not trying to set myself up as the font of all knowledge or the judge of your words but you’ve commented on my blog so I think I should respond in the best way I can:
You say that all of these churches out there are false doctrine but one. There are many churches but there is only one Church, which churches do you believe are teaching false doctrine? Scripture gives us clear guidance in confronting and challenging false doctrine and teaching where we see it (Galatians 1, Acts 18:24-28). I know that I would want to be told if someone believed I was teaching wrongly and I’ve said as much from the pulpit, I would then look to study the subject or passage in question with those who thought differently to me and together with God’s help try to seek the truth.
Your second point, that God does not love everybody is true to a point. Throughout history God has chosen individuals and groups to be his people. He chose Israel from Abraham and Isaac through Jacob but not Esau as you point out from Romans 9:13. If you read on to verse 14 we discover that God will choose for himself who to give his mercy and compassion to, he cannot be dictated to by us. If we read onwards into chapter 10 we find in verse 9 “if you confess with your lips that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead you will be saved“. God’s salvation is open to all but not everyone will accept it. The only reason we can be assured of our salvation is because it is all of God and none of us. I would fear greatly if my own salvation were down to my actions or words past, present or future! Your reference to Ephesians reinforces this truth that God has chosen the Church; men and women, boys and girls from all nations to be recipients of his love in Christ Jesus. Because we don’t know which individuals God has chosen our job is to preach the truth to the world.
You say that the Bible teaches that God creates evil, I agree that God creates or brings evil on this world either for punishment, judgment or correction as is his right as our creator and judge. Evil and Sin are not the same thing which is what I think you are implying. Something we might consider ‘Evil’ cannot be sin when God brings it, check the dictionary definition of Evil and remember that our definitions of words, actions and events are not always the same as God’s.
Remember Joseph in Egypt when he confronted his brothers: Genesis 50:20: “You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives.” What looks like an evil act turns out to be God working for the good of those who love him, just as he promises.
Yes preachers make mistakes and the onus is on everyone who listens to check the words they hear from the pulpit against the word of God and in Christian love to correct and be prepared to be corrected ourselves as to our understandings. No one person or group has the answers to everything or gets everything right all the time but thank God that we are called together to be together in his name and build one another up to the glory of God.
